A chimera

A surprising chimera appeared in the new beds. The shoot had grasslike blades and broad heart shaped leaves, like two plants in one. A closer look showed bird seed germinating, a sunflower and barley growing together. My garden diary covers weed identification, topsoil seed banks and I’ll watch for flowers.
