What if conscious experience isn't simply on or off? I revisit Global Workspace Theory and whether we can introspectively test it. I report my 2007 beeper study on unattended tactile experience in the left foot and far right visual periphery. Noisy results, memory and refrigerator light errors, and borderline consciousness make introspective tests unreliable.
